Careers-Not-Jobs
Forum for Traditional and Self-Employed Professionals

Careers-Not-Jobs is dedicated to the American worker; whether they are the traditional employee working in a formal office, telecommuter or the self-employed work from home in the room over the garage selling products over the internet. Regardless of your career choice there is an opportunity to learn and contribute here.

My Name is Marc Morris

As a professional recruiter I've spent 15
years helping the Fortune 1000 attract,
hire and retain the best employees. My
background includes hiring for Hi-Tech,
Engineering Firms, Medical, Sales, Legal
and Network Marketing Professionals.

Finding, interviewing and hiring great talent
is passion for me, but more importantly
helping others discover and find their
dream career is the real reward. Life is
too short to spend your time doing things
that are not your passion

If you are like most traditional job searchers you are probably feeling uncomfortable and nervous. Questions of resume preparation, interviewing skills and what to wear to an interview can keep you up at night. There are numerous books written on this subject, some of the information is good and some contain bad advice.

Since the very first interview was conducted one thing has remained constant, the best person for the job will have limited interviewing experience. Because top performers are career focused people they have the least job search experience. When they make a move it will be strategic and seen as a career enhancing opportunity. So, if you are feeling anxious and uncertain about the process, know that you are in good company.

With nearly 10 million Americans classified as self-employed we would be remiss in not identifying issues that face theses workers as they makeup 8.7% of the American workforce. With the rising cost of commuting and the affect it has on a persons quality of life, the self-employment category is expected to grow.

Careers-Not-Jobs is dedicated to sharing information about enhancing your career, avoiding costly interview mistakes; and for manager how to avoid hiring errors. I hope you find this enjoyable experience. I also hope that you will share your experiences with others at this site.
