Leadership

In Network Marketing

Leadership is everything in the world of Network Marketing; so after you have decided to enter this rewarding field you will want to investigate the team attempting to recruit you. Do not under estimate the importance of their past performance as it is the best predictor of future success, not to mention their ability to support you in the early stages of developing your business. Joining an inexperienced or unsuccessful team is not in your best interests even if the product and opportunity are clearly outstanding.

If the person sponsoring you is new to the business ask about their up-line's ability to sponsor and mentor down-line distributors. Seek out examples of talented people they have recruited into their organization - the type of people that are motivated to achieve great things. Ask What methods they have to regularly share ideas for growing their down-line distributors business centers. More importantly do they share tested techniques that prevent you from wasting precious time re-inventing recruiting and sales processes; this will allow your new team members to accelerate their businesses. Seek out examples of others they have personally sponsored. Remember the old adage that recruiting average people will net average results.

leadership....the ability to inspire others to achieve great things.

Other questions you will want to ask is what are their goals and are they in writing. Written goals are a real sign of someone that is motivated and knows where they are going. When reviewing their goals determine if they are specific, timely and have measurable results. You will find that real leaders are able to effective manage their activities because they know where they are going, what they are doing and what they expect to achieve. Do you have written your goals?

Other things to consider are:

  • Is the up-line able to inspire others to accomplish great things and create excitement.
  • Are they available to answer questions.
  • Do they make investments in their new distributors.
  • Leaders know their products and advise others on the benefits and pricing.
  • Top performers brand themselves and use promotional materials such as business cards, websites, e-mail templates.
  • Are they become comfortable discussing their product and opportunity - their comfort level is an indication of experience.

Regardless of what you are told, recognize that you will have to make additional investments in yourself if you plan to be a professional in the area you are pursuing. A well designed website, Business cards, thank you notes and promotional materials are mandatory items for professionals. Associate yourself with positive people and those that are more successful than you - not to ride their coat tails but to learn.
